A farm copilot for two paddy plots in Nilabadi
FarmBot follows two paddy fields near the Nilabadi Fishing Pond and the Agnigangamma Temple plot in Bandhugaon, Koraput, Odisha. It uses satellites now, adds ground sensors and cameras later, and has an AI copilot to explain it all.

What FarmBot will do
Three priorities, in order
FarmBot is a farm copilot for two paddy plots in Nilabadi. It reads free satellite imagery and modelled weather now, and will add sensors, traps and cameras on the fields. Everything is explained in plain words for the people who farm here.
Priority 1 · in progress
Pest & disease alerts
Weather-driven early warnings for stem borer, gall midge, leaf folder, planthopper, blast, sheath blight and bacterial blight. Every rule is cited from ICAR and IRRI sources. No risk scores are published until they're checked locally. →
Priority 2
Weekly recommendations
A short weekly note per plot: crop stage, water balance, pest risk and links to the latest ICAR-NRRI and IMD advisories. →
Priority 3 · experimental
Relative yield index
Peak and season-long NDVI compared across seasons and plots: a relative index, not tonnes. On 1–23 October the pond fields were less green than in 2025 and the temple plot greener, but the 2026 crop is still greening. →
Supporting workstreams
Harvest-timing heads-up
Weekly NDVI decline per plot. No ripening decline yet.
Weak zones in a plot
10 m pixels that lag in both seasons. They also show where the first sensors should go.
Sentinel-1 radar
Flooding, waterlogging and transplanting dates through monsoon cloud, fed into pest risk.
Rabi water budget
How much pulse or mustard the pond could water. Pond depth is still unknown.
Village baseline (later)
Each plot compared with neighbouring fields in the same season.
The plots
Two paddy plots, named by landmark
Both plots are in Nilabadi (Neelabadi), Bandhugaon block, Koraput, Odisha. Their outlines were traced from marked maps. The temple plot is about 1.3 km N of the pond fields.

This season at a glance
Kharif 2026 is near peak
0.87 NDVI
Temple plot median on 23 Oct. Near its peak, so it is ripening, not yet harvested. Satellite-observed
0.90 NDVI
Pond fields median on 23 Oct, still rising. Satellite-observed
1,402 mm
Rain June–October 2026 over the village, wettest month Sep 2026 (496 mm). Modelled NASA POWER.
Read with care
- Outlines are hand-digitised, not surveyed. They were traced from marked map screenshots matched to high-resolution imagery (about 1–2 m match error). Field edges are good to roughly 5–10 m.
- 10 m pixels. The two pond fields cover about 100 and 40 Sentinel-2 pixels, many of them mixed with bunds and neighbours, so within-field detail is indicative only.
- Monsoon cloud gap. July–August had only one or two clear Sentinel-2 dates, so transplanting dates can't be pinned down.
- Soil and weather figures are modelled estimates, not measurements on these fields.
