One-time snapshot · 31 Oct 2026 · not updated. This was FarmBot's first look at the fields, made before the exact field edges were marked. It used a rough box around the village and square boxes around each plot. We keep it for reference and will not update it. New to satellite words? Read What the satellite sees. Nilabadi Fishing Pond plot

Paddy. Sentinel-2 (European satellites that photograph the fields about every 5 days) imagery, greenness score (NDVI) maps, a crop calendar from Greenness map, pond water extent and computer-estimated soil.

Where

Approximate location

A 600 × 600 m box centred about 18.947 N, 83.264 E. A 2021 European land-cover map (ESA WorldCover) labels it as 79% cropland, 11% trees, 8% grassland and 1.3% water. Only crop-land squares feed the crop numbers.

Approximate. The box is centred on the fishing pond at about 18.947 N, 83.264 E. The pond is a ~0.78 ha (about 1.9 acres) water body, found by matching a map screenshot against Sentinel-2. There is a cluster of smaller ponds 100–300 m to its north.
Sentinel-2 true colour of the Nilabadi Fishing Pond plot
How to read this: this is how the area looks to the eye from space. Dark green is trees, lighter green is fields, white or grey is cloud or buildings.True colour, 23 Oct 2026, 10 m, north up. Box is approximate.

In 2025 this plot stayed green longest of the areas checked. It peaked at 0.86 around 21 Oct and was mostly harvested by 4 Dec. Its September 2026 median (0.59) was lower than the temple plot's (0.74), and it is now close to peak.

Chart of crop-land greenness over time for both plots
How to read this: higher line = greener crop. The fall in Nov–Dec 2025 is last year's harvest, the low flat part (Jan–Apr) is the dry season, and the rise from June is this year's crop.Greenness of the crop land only: dots are clear dates, the line is smoothed over 20 days, the shaded band shows where the middle half (25–75%) of the field fell. Green is the pond plot, orange the temple plot and grey the true-west alternative.

Pond water · from satellite photos

The pond held water all dry season

Open water within 150 m of the pond centre (water score (NDWI) > 0) stayed between 0.9 and 1.6 ha (about 2.2–4.0 acres) on every clear date from Nov 2025 to Jun 2026. The second water score (MNDWI) suggests it shrank from ~1.5 ha (Dec–Jan median) to ~1.0 ha (Mar–May median). That is surface area only, not depth or volume. Seen by satellite

Pond water area over time
How to read this: each dot is one clear photo. Higher = more open water near the pond. The blue and orange lines are two versions of the water score. The big September spike is most likely wet fields or haze, not real pond growth.Water area within 150 m of the pond, by water and second water, on clear dates.

A slightly acidic loam at the surface, clay-loam below (pH 6.2–6.3). These are computer estimates for 250 m squares, and the two plots are close enough that they're barely independent. Get a Soil Health Card or lab test before any fertiliser decision.

Read with care

  • Plot boxes are approximate. They are squares drawn around landmarks, not surveyed field boundaries.
  • Monsoon cloud gap. July–August had only one or two clear satellite photos, so transplanting dates can't be pinned down.
  • Temple plot location is still to be confirmed. The reference screenshot was rotated, so the box sits north-north-east of the temple; a true-west alternative was also checked.
  • Soil and weather figures are computer-estimated estimates, not measurements on these fields.
